William Eugene Pierce
Aug. 16th, 1963.
Aug. 1st, 2026.
Born in Princeton, NJ, Eugene Pierce spent much of his youth dividing his time between New Jersey and New York City. The day after graduating from high school, he moved to Manhattan, where he lived and worked for the next twenty-five years. Later in life, he returned to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he and his wife, Jennifer Cabral, pursued their shared passion for photography.
Photography was not simply Eugene Pierce's profession; it was the inheritance and calling of his life. Inspired by his father, Bill Pierce, and continuing a family tradition of photographers, he devoted himself to the craft with precision, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to fellow photographers, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. His work earned numerous honors and awards throughout his career. Throughout the 1990s he served on the production staff of the Eddie Adams Workshop for Photojournalism, helping to mentor and support emerging generations of photographers.
His photographs are held in the permanent collection of the Princeton University Art Museum, and upcoming inclusion to the Brooklyn Museum, a lasting testament to a life devoted to seeing, preserving, and sharing the world through photography.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer Cabral, his devoted father William Collins Pierce, Sr. and his dear brother William Collins Pierce Jr.
