Obituary

Theodora "Dora" Burroughs Freeman, 66, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after living her life with cancer for most of the past two years

Ms. Freeman was born on March 14, 1944 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Francis and Theodora (Pege) Burroughs. She grew up in Barrington, NJ and resided in Hamilton, NJ for three decades while raising her three daughters.
Since 1994, she has been a resident of West Trenton, NJ.

Dora retired from the Sun National Bank in 2009. She had also been employed, for almost 20 years, at New Jersey Association of Counties and had worked for the Hopewell Township Regional Schools in the 1970's where she met her loving husband Archie. They were married on August 13, 1994 (they were both a little nervous).

Ms. Freeman was a member and practitioner of the Religious Science Church of Princeton in Princeton, NJ. Dora had a kind, generous and peaceful spirit and touched the lives of everyone she met in a profound way. She was a thoughtful person and very good listener. She single-handedly raised three daughters, while working two jobs and pursuing her education. She graduated with an Associates Degree from Mercer County Community College in 2003.

Dora loved to travel, garden, cook, hike and spend time with friends and family. Her grandchildren were an important part of her life and brought her immense joy. She spent many summer vacations in Topsail, NC, where she enjoyed watching the sunrise, the pelicans, the dolphins and following the lives of the Sea Turtles. She will be greatly missed by all.

Dora is survived by her devoted husband, Archie B. Freeman, Jr., three daughters; Grace Walker and her daughter Mackenzie of Hamilton Square, NJ, Donna Gapas and her husband Marconi and their two sons Andrew and Tyler, of Clinton Township, NJ and Michelle Miller, her partner Tom Collins and their daughter Sophia Collins of Haddonfield, NJ. Also surviving are her uncle, Robert Pege and his wife Joan of Trenton, NJ and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 10:30am in the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, NJ followed by burial at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton.

Visiting hours are Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service.
