Obituary

Samuel “Sam” Ervin passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Born in San Francisco, California, Sam was raised in Manville, New Jersey, and spent his adult life in Princeton, New Jersey. Throughout his life, he was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and devotion to his family.

Sam was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. His family was at the center of his world, and he took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those he loved. He will be remembered for the wisdom he shared, the memories he created, and the love he gave so generously.

Sam had a lifelong curiosity and appreciation for many things. He enjoyed fishing, photography, engineering, and drafting, hobbies that reflected both his creativity and his thoughtful, detail-oriented nature. He also loved cruising, enjoying the opportunity to travel, relax, and create wonderful memories along the way. He took great pride in his career, dedicating more than 25 years of service to Wakefern.

Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Somboon Ervin. Their life together was a testament to enduring love and companionship. He is survived by his daughters, Sammijo Ervin and Sarah Ervin; his beloved grandson, Jordan Driver; and his sister, Esther Ervin.

Sam will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his family, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, the adventures he enjoyed, and the many lives he touched. May he rest peacefully, reunited with his beloved wife, and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
