Rosanne Schiffman Rosenthal

Rosanne Schiffman Rosenthal, 91, passed away on January 8, 2025 in Princeton, NJ. Rosanne was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph J. Schiffman, who had a long career in local Chicago politics, and Mae Schiffman.

Rosanne attended Purdue University where she met her husband, Howard, later receiving her degree in Education from Roosevelt University.

After they were wed Rosanne and Howard lived in Eatontown, NJ, near Fort Monmouth, where Howard was stationed as a Lieutenant. They moved to East Orange, NJ, where Rosanne began teaching in the East Orange School District, and then moved to West Orange, where they resided for over fifty five years.

Rosanne received her Masters in Learning Disabilities from Montclair State before becoming the Reading Resource Administrator in East Orange.

Rosanne loved to read since a child, and was particularly fond of mysteries. She was a crossword puzzle aficionado- challenging herself to complete The NY Times weekday crossword puzzle in ten minutes. Art, music, travel and shows were also passions.

She was a devoted wife to Howard who predeceased her in March 2022, a loving mother to Michael (Chip) Rosenthal and Terese (Teri) Rosenthal), as well as her grandchildren Matthew Rosenthal and Carlee Hill. She was also excited to recently become a great grandmother to two twin boys, Griffin and Porter Hill. Rosanne is also survived by her brother Richard Schiffman and her "second son" John Vereb.

A smart, funny, loving woman, Rosanne's love of life, laughter and family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
