Obituary

Richard N. Schuetz

May 5, 1937 – September 21, 2026

Richard Norman Schuetz, 89, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, with his two daughters by his side.

Born on May 4, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey, to Conrad and Marian Schuetz, Richard grew up in Irvington and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a bachelor’s degree. He served his country as a member of the National Guard and spent his entire professional career in banking, working in the data processing sector.

On September 14, 1963, he married Barbara Landeck. Together, they raised their daughters, Lynn and Wendy, in Chatham, New Jersey, before retiring to Forked River. They shared a life together until Barbara’s passing in 2006. In the years that followed, Dick found love again with Kathy Gartner, with whom he shared a loving companionship until her passing in 2020.

Known to many as Dick, he was a happy man who found joy in life’s pleasures, especially tennis, boating, and his beloved Corvettes. His enthusiasm for these interests brought him cherished friendships and countless good times over the years. His family and friends will remember him for his happy spirit, sense of humor, and the joy he found in sharing the things he loved.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Rela and her husband, Matt, and Wendy DiLemma and her husband, Scott; his three grandsons, Matthew and his wife, Violeta, Michael and his wife, Brianna, and Tyler; his two great-grandchildren, Penelope and Christopher; and his sister, Carolyn Krill.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, NJ on Saturday, October 17 from 11am to 1pm. A brief memorial service will follow promptly at 1pm. Street parking only.
