Richard L. Munson, 81, of Plainsboro, NJ, died at Merwick Care and Rehab. Center in Plainsboro, NJ, on Sunday, May 1, 2011.

Born in Jamaica, NY, Mr. Munson lived in Scarsdale and Ossining, NY before moving to Plainsboro in 2007.

Mr. Munson received a B.A. from Penn Military Academy and later retired as an officer from the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret). He was former President of the Scarsdale Golf Club and a member of the Tournament Players Club at Jasna Polana in Princeton, NJ

Mr. Munson is predeceased by his parents James L. Munson and Ruth D. Smith Munson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda J. Munson, three children; Wendy Munson of Scarsdale, NY, Melissa H. Munson of Jacksonville, FL and Mark L. Munson of Nashville, TN, two granddaughters; Mary Grace and Anna M. Munson, both of Nashville, TN and two sisters Suzanne Munson of Phoenix, AZ and Desire Munson Smith of Plymouth Meeting, PA. Mr. Munson is also the uncle of Matthew and Michael Smith, Greg Lannon, Sue Lannon Bradley, Tara Gilmore McDaniel, Rhett Gilmore and Ralph J. and Marianna P. Conserva.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street, Princeton, NJ 08540. Burial was private in the family plot.
