Obituary

What an incredible woman. Katherine Maria Menniti, 56 years born to Elnora (Sherie) and Andy Chalas, younger sister to Tony Chalas (wife Shelley) and twin to Timothy Chalas (wife Kathryn). Survived by her husband of 34 years, Dan Menniti, daughter and son-in-law, Chalas and Justice McMillion.

Katherine only wanted to be remembered by the impact on those who surrounded her through ministry, and not for her own (yet many) accomplishments. She started her journey as a ballerina at the age of eight, pursuing her career with a passion for ballet like no other; even though that career ended at age 22, she always made it a part of her life. Katherine had an entrepreneurial spirit and wore many hats.

In the 1990’s she concurrently managed elementary, Jr. and Sr. high youth ministries, managed a Christian bookstore and owned an in-home catering business. In 2007 she was awarded three pool/beach bar and grills, and cocktail lounge concessions at the largest timeshare resort in the Caribbean. Katherine also ran her French restaurant on the island and participated in a morning radio show before retiring in early 2011.

In summary, Katherine’s wildfire personality and love for the Lord drove her to be successful through life, loved by others, and earned her the moniker “Krazee Kat”. And boy was she!

Kat did not want to be remembered for her illnesses, but it would be a disservice not to share a glimpse of her struggles as it makes her love, empathy, and accomplishments even more impressive. She battled chronic and debilitating to most rare disease, bilateral Trigeminal Neuralgia, for over 25 years and she did not let that stop her. The strength she emulated was palpable, and a lasting in all the hearts of those who knew her.

Her favorite verse that carried her through was Philippians 1:21 – “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Katherine experienced that gain when she arrived home in the early hours of October 30th, 2026, and her memory lives on through the loves of her life and best friends, Dan, Chalas and Justice.
