Obituary

John Manzo Duncan, devoted father and grandfather, died May 21, 2014, at age 65, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 25, 1948 in Brooklyn to Valerie and John Duncan. Though born in New York, Princeton was Johnny 's true home and he spent much of his life in the area. He graduated from Princeton High School where he played lacrosse and football, and took classes at Ohio State University.

Johnny spent many years at Davey Tree Company as a landscaping professional, rising through the ranks and becoming a supervisor. Among his many accounts was the University of Pennsylvania, where his team was responsible for the landscaping at the Ivy League campus. He dedicated his time and experience to Hamilton Little Lads providing guidance and oversight to field maintenance; Johnny was also actively involved in Hamilton Little Lads as a coach.

Johnny had many passions in life - he loved to entertain and cook a great meal for his friends and family; he loved music - he was among the lucky few to have gone to Woodstock; he loved football - rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, and Oakland Raiders; he loved the water – fishing, jet-skiing, and especially his boat. No passion however, was greater than his children and family. Johnny was a devoted father and a proud grandfather.

Preceding Johnny in death, were his parents John Duncan and Valerie (Duncan) Williams; stepfather Mel Williams, and daughter Chantel Nicole Lee Duncan. Left to grieve for him are his remaining children -Julie Van Der Meer, Michael Duncan, Christina Duncan, and Terrell Duncan Black; his brother Melvin Williams Jr, sister in law Laura Williams, niece Gina, and nephew Anderson Williams; grandchildren Ishmael Bennett, Jala Bennett and Terrell Duncan Black Jr.; several relatives and countless friends.

A memorial for John will take place on Saturday, June 14 at Noon, at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, NJ.
