Obituary

Irene Giordani Vozzella, the former bridal fashion designer, died July 3, 2010 at University Medical Center at Princeton at age 88.

She was a resident of Hopewell Township since 2000 when she moved from her home in Lynnfield MA to live with her daughter Marcelline Baumann, her son-in-law Dr. John Baumann, the Director of the J. Seward Johnson Radiation Oncology Center at the University Medical Center at Princeton and her grandchildren Brian and Marcelline.

She was born in Lynn MA on November 4, 1921 and graduated from The Modern School of Fashion Design in Boston where she specialized in the design and fabrication of custom bridal gowns. Starting with a single store in downtown Boston, she and her late husband, Stanley, built their bridal business, Weddings Inc., into the largest purveyor of bridal fashions in the Boston area.

She is also survived by her daughter Valery Riemer of Dallas TX and son Stanley Vozzella of Milton MA and their families, including son-in-law Richard Riemer, daughter-in-law Lynn Vozzella, and their children Natalie Riemer, Phoebe and Spencer Torres.

She was a woman of great faith in her Catholic religion which provided her with the strength to endure with great stoicism a thirty year history of disabling Parkinson's Disease. In spite of this affliction, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling with her family and never lost her love of life and laughter. She was an active participant in the Parkinson's Disease Support Group of the Central Delaware Valley and participated in many of the events sponsored by the Auxiliary of the University Medical Center at Princeton. A great supporter of Princeton University, Irene participated in many P-rades, in her wheelchair, and was proud to have family who graduated from the university; her son, Stanley (*01), son-in-law, John ('73) and grandchildren Brian ('03) and Marcelline ('07).

Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody MA, will follow a 10AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 13, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield, MA. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 12, at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA.
