Gloria L.
Quigley
d. Dec 10, 2020
East Windsor
Gloria L. Quigley, a long-time resident of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020 at age 89 in East Windsor, NJ.
She was the devoted daughter of the late Giovanni and Falina Carusi, who emigrated from Italy, and dear sister of the late John A. Carusi. She is survived by her children, John (Kathy) and Gloria A. "Lori" Quigley, her cherished grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, her beloved great-granddaughter, and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Gloria was born and raised in Camden. She attended Woodrow Wilson H.S., where she graduated as Class Salutatorian. She thereafter attended the Temple University School of Nursing, graduating at the top of her class.
Gloria had a flair for helping others, and did so throughout her life. She continued her education while working as a nurse. Her studies led to advanced degrees in education from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and Rutgers University, and her career turned to teaching and counseling. She went on to serve for over 20 years as a school social worker in Cherry Hill.
An avid traveler, she lived for a time in Germany, working as a school counselor for children of the American military. She also traveled to Russia as part of an educator exchange program, and to Israel as a member of the Interfaith Community.
Gloria was also passionate about literature and the arts. She particularly enjoyed heading into New York to attend the theatre.
A "virtual" memorial service in celebration of her life will be held in early 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
