Obituary

Dimitri was killed by police in his house in Philadelphia on May 31st of 2023. His sudden death broke many hearts. He is mourned by his mother Olga Amosova, his grandparents Galina and Dimitri Klimov in Moscow, his son, George Klimov and George's mother Tatiana, his sister Alexandra Raskin and her father Yosef, and his long-time partner Deirdre O'Sullivan.

Dimitri was unconventional, always forging his own path. He based his life on following his heart, rather than society's prescriptive expectations. Although a high-school dropout, and then a college dropout, Dimitri never lost his dedication and love for learning. Aside from being an avid reader, he taught himself all aspects of computer science, from hardware to cybersecurity, as well as chemistry and physiology. His interests extended even further to include psytrance music and DJ-ing.

Sometimes his journey through life was not easy, but his choices were always made with his loved ones in mind. George, his son, was born while Dimitri and Tatiana were both in high school. George has developed into an exceptional and brilliant student, accomplished beyond his years. He has inherited mental acumen from his father, and drive and dedication from his mother. At 18, he is already a Senior at Penn State University, and will graduate before his 20th birthday with a Bachelor's degree in Physics. George has a bright future, carrying on Dimitri's legacy.

We may have known him as Dimitri, Dima, Mitya or simply D - and sometimes "the guy in the cat shirt". But regardless of the moniker, we all considered him a dear friend. His heart was always in the right place, and he would always try to help his friends in any way he could. His impact on many of our lives was significant and long-lasting. His kindness, warmth, and love touched each and every one of us, and he left us changed for the better.
