Darren Leslie Richards
February 1, 1969 – May 9, 2026
A beloved husband and father, Darren Richards passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on May 9, 2026, after a brave 18-month battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Proud of his British roots, Darren never tired of telling anyone who asked that his charming accent was courtesy of growing up in the UK. That accent, combined with his wit, intelligence, quirky humor, and endless supply of knowledge, made him unforgettable to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He had a brilliant, inquisitive mind, a wonderfully dry British sense of humor, and a silly side that those closest to him treasured deeply. Darren loved learning for the sheer joy of it and was the kind of person who always had a quick retort ready. He was known for solving even the most complicated problems with calm confidence.
Professionally, Darren was an exceptionally gifted software developer whose creativity, intellect, and forward-thinking ideas helped create products now used by thousands of people around the world. He thrived on learning new programming languages and staying at the cutting edge of technology.
Darren loved the beauty of nature, long walks, discovering new places, and family day trips. He also loved music, often creating electronic compositions, playing his synths or guitar, and jamming with his children. He passed his love of music on to his family.
His passion for photography inspired him to create an editing app, perfectly blending his artistic creativity with his technical expertise. Whether photographing nature, family, or everyday moments, Darren was always ready with a camera in hand to capture beauty others might overlook. He had a gift for candid photography and preserving meaningful moments.
Above all else, Darren lived for his family. They were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride. He was the kind of father who was always present — helping with homework no matter how long it took, sharing his love of music, laughing together, and passing on his wisdom. Darren created countless cherished memories with his family. Nothing mattered more to him than the people he loved.
First diagnosed in October 2024, doctors gave Darren only six months to live, but in true Darren fashion, he faced his illness with remarkable strength, resilience, humor, and bravery. After undergoing treatment, he survived twelve more precious months, granting him invaluable time with the people he loved most. His life serves as a powerful reminder to cherish each day, because tomorrow is never promised. His loss leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Darren is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Lisa; his cherished children, Vivienne (15) and Philip (13); extended family in the UK and the US; the many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched as a fun-loving uncle and godfather; dear friends; and respected colleagues. They will continue to honor his memory and carry his love, laughter, and spirit with them.
Darren will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and frequently quoted.
A service celebrating Darren's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 9:00 AM at:
