Obituary

Calvin R. Luk, age 31, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He is survived by his parents, Hung and Cindy; his three sisters, Katherine, Caroline, and Diana; his girlfriend, Amber DiBenedetto; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calvin was born on May 9, 1989 at NYU Hospital and created many childhood memories in East Hanover, NJ. Though he was the second child, he was the only son and thus played the big brother role to his three sisters. Maintaining his role as the protector throughout life, he always had his family and friends' best interests at heart while also showing kindness, consideration, and respect to everyone he encountered.

He enjoyed lifting weights, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, watching sports, pulling pranks, and playing video games.

He met the love of his life, Amber, on March 17, 2014 and dated for 7 years with dreams to one day start his own family. Together, they raised two dogs, Rango and Bear, and helped care for Amari, Amber's niece.

He had an enormous heart and always cherished those closest to him. As a driven and persistent individual, Calvin was always striving to be his best self as well as pushing others to do the same.

He graduated from Rutgers University in 2013 with a BA in Economics in hopes to run his own business.

He fearlessly fought every battle he encountered and helped others through their own. Though he may have appeared tough on the outside, he was light-spirited and even goofy at times, but more importantly, he had a gentle, kind-hearted soul that touched many.

As the world was transitioning out of the pandemic, he was getting ready to write a new chapter in life to pursue his lifelong dreams.

He was a beloved son, brother, boyfriend, cousin, nephew, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace as his loving memories and passion continues to live among us.
