Obituary

Alan Frank Shpak of Princeton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024 at the age of 75, surrounded by loved ones. Alan was born on May 15, 1948 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Stephen and Tekla (Borden) Shpak and has been a
resident of Princeton, New Jersey for 46 years.

Alan served as a Marine in the Vietnam War, bravely fighting for his country. Upon his return, he continued his college education at Seton Hall University, earning both his BS and MBA in Business Administration. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Mu Fraternity where he bonded with fellow Marines, many of whom became his groomsmen and lifelong friends.

Alan's love story with his Madelaine began at Seton Hall University, where they enjoyed three years of college life together, exploring South Orange, and going on numerous weekend dates in Manhattan. Soon after college, they married on April 21,1974 at the Seton Hall University Chapel. After seventeen years of marriage, their greatest joy was bringing their daughter, Ashley Logan, into the world.

Alan had a long, fruitful career in Sales Management in the automotive aftermarket, working for the Bendix Corporation, TRW, and Standard Motor Products. His many years with those companies brought friendships that have lasted for decades.
Furthermore, in retirement over the past year, Alan joined Penske Automotive's Car Shop as a driver for their dealerships. He often spoke of the interesting and genuine friendships he made there and truly loved riding and chatting with his colleagues. Trips into picturesque Amish country were among his favorites!

Known for his unwavering love of history, politics, aircraft, meteorology, and staying updated on current events, he found solace in the depth of knowledge and the thrill of learning. Alan was both a formidable chess and Jeopardy player. He had a built-in clock for every news program and Jeopardy episode, rarely failing to ace Final Jeopardy. However, his greatest joy came from sharing adventures with his beloved wife and daughter along the East and West Coasts, creating cherished memories that will last forever. A true admirer of the New England seacoast, particularly the rugged beauty of Kennebunkport, Maine, he found immense pleasure in its picturesque landscapes and abundance of fresh seafood. Alan's daily routines in Princeton always included rejuvenating walks on the Princeton University campus, in constant awe of its natural beauty, the hundreds of varieties of trees and plants, and its magnificent architecture. The surrounding town brought great joy as well. Alan was blessed to enjoy a 75th Birthday Celebration with both his wife and daughter. Alan and Ashley were exhilarated by their biplane flight over scenic Bucks County, and the three enjoyed a host of fine dining experiences in Bucks County, Manhattan, and California. His excursions into Napa and Sonoma Valleys were amongst his favorites. In addition, Alan and Madelaine were blessed to celebrate fifty years of marriage in their beloved Kennebunkport, Maine, enjoying every moment of all they grew to love for five decades. Our dear Alan Frank, will always be remembered for his dashing good looks, warm green eyes and smile, and most of all, as a dedicated, loving husband and father.

Alan is predeceased by his brother Steve Shpak (Gloria), and his niece, Tracey Shpak.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Madelaine Marie Shpak, daughter Ashley Logan Shpak, nephew Stephen Shpak (Michele) and their daughters Jessica and Jamie, his cousin Corinne Shpak, as well as many dear family members.
